Wassyl Abdessemed joined PEI’s research ＆ analytics team at the start of 2022, having previously worked in private asset management research. Wassyl looks after PEI’s institutional investor research globally and oversees number of rankings and reports, including the Global Investor rankings.

Alberto Agazzi is the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Generali Real Estate SGR since 2015. GRE SGR is the real estate investment management company of the Generali Group, managing more than 20 real estate funds, with an AUM of 18 bln, focused on the main Global Markets in equity and debt transactions. Alberto joined the Generali Group in 2005 as an investment manager for the Italian real estate portfolio.

In 2009 he became Head of Fund Management for Generali Real Estate SGR, before taking over as the Managing Director of Generali Real Estate – Italy four years later. Prior to joining Generali, he had worked in the real estate advisory team of Mediobanca, and as a project manager for an engineering company. Alberto holds a Master in Business Administration from SDA Bocconi and a Degree in Building Engineering from the Politecnico of Milan.

Jonas is Deputy Managing Partner at Slättö a fast-growing Nordic real estate private equity investor. He provides strategic leadership and oversees various aspects of the business, including strategy and business development, investor relations, legal and compliance, financing and talent management. He is also a member of the Investment Committee.

Prior to Slättö, Jonas served as CFO and CIO at Hembla (previously D. Carnegie & Co), which is majority owned by Blackstone. He has also been Director at Mengus, where he focused on office property investments, and an Executive at Macquarie Capital, where he provided corporate financial advisory services.

Jonas holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering & Management from Linköping University.

Slättö

Andrew is Global Head of Real Estate Research & Strategy at Zurich Insurance, having joined the firm in February 2023. Based in Zurich, he is responsible for shaping the firm’s strategic real estate outlook. He works closely with portfolio managers and investor partners in developing and implementing comprehensive, integrated global investment strategies. He sits on the Investment Committee and is a member of the Leadership Team. Andrew has more than 20 years of experience in real asset research & strategy. Prior to his current role, he was Head of European Research at CBRE Investment Management having worked in London, Paris, and Los Angeles. He has also held positions in land use planning and environmental consulting in the U.S and Germany. He holds a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Agriculture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, co-chairing the European Office and Mixed Use Council. Andrew is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Britain, fluent in German.

Zurich Insurance

Ekaterina is responsible for the overall leadership of the Mirastar platform. Mirastar is a pan-European European industrial ＆ logistics investor, manager and developer. The company is majority owned by KKR funds. Ekaterina previously co-founded Delin Properties in 2011, first as Head of Investments and subsequently as MD, where she repositioned the business as a fully integrated Pan-European logistics development and asset management platform. Third party investment was secured through 3 separate mandates, enabling the development pipeline and assets under management to increase from €400m to over €1.3bn in less than 3 years. Before that, she worked in ING Real Estate’s lending team in the Netherlands and with GVA in Moscow. She is a recognised Pan-European industry leader and regular contributor to panels and articles in the logistics sector.

Yolande is a practice professor who spent 33 years researching property markets in industry before joining UCL as Chair of the Bartlett Real Estate Institute in 2018. As head of World Research at Savills, she took a global, cross-sector view of real estate and became increasingly interested in very long run trends.
Her work at UCL is deliberately unfocussed, looking at the combination and interaction of disruptive trends in demographics, finance, technology, society, the environment, and governments in changing global real estate. She believes that real estate, meaning land and everything attached to it, is at the heart of sustainability. Understanding real estate value in all its forms is therefore essential to solving the wicked problems and grand challenges of the 21st century. To this end, she sees as imperative the communication of knowledge and the activation of partnerships between academia and industry.

Karin Barthelmes-Wehr is Managing Director of the the Institute for Corporate Governance in the German Real Estate Industry (ICG) - the leading Think and Do Tank for all topics related to sustainable leadership. She has been involved in building up the institute since 2003.

Karin is also co-founder of the International Ethics Standards Coalition which she was initiated by the United Nations in 2014 and which she led as Chair for several terms. The coalition’s aim is to establish and implement a common code of ethics in the real estate industry worldwide. To date, around 150 real estate bodies from almost 50 countries (as well as just as many companies, universities and government organisations) have joined the coalition.

Apart from other honorary appointments, Karin is member of the advisory committee of the Real Estate Department of HAWK (Hildesheim/Holzminden University of Applied Sciences) and the Institute for Compliance & Environmental Social Governance (ICESG) at the College of Trier. She is a juror for the polis AWARD and founding member and mentor at the cross
industry program Initiative Women into Leadership (IWiL).

She holds a Master's degree (suma cum laude) in English, Romance Philology and Political Science from the University of Münster and has more than 25 years of experience in the real estate industry.

Before joining ICG, Karin worked in real estate conference management for EUROFORUM/”Handelsblatt” and in executive search at Heidrick & Struggles.

In 2020, the jury of "Immobilien Manager" selected her as the top 1 "Real Estate Influencer”, the category of "Real Estate Women with a Strong Presence and High Reputation".

James Boadle is a member of Oxford Properties’ European leadership team and is responsible for setting its European-wide strategy, as well as focusing on the execution of its industrial & logistics strategies across the region. Mr Boadle also serves as a non-executive director on the boards of a number of Oxford’s portfolio companies, including M7 Real Estate and Get Living PLC.

Mr Boadle has 15 years’ experience in the real estate sector and has executed over C$25 billion (£15 billion) of transactions, with global investment experience across all of the major asset classes. He joined Oxford in 2015 and has been responsible for some of the organization’s most significant investments, including leading Oxford’s foray into the European logistics and the UK residential sectors. Prior to Oxford, Mr Boadle spent 7 years at real estate advisory firms CBRE and Savills in their Central London capital markets business.

Mr Boadle holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics (Honours) from the University of Southampton, and is a member of the Investment Property Forum (IPF) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Jonathan Brasse is the senior editor for PEI Media’s Real Estate Group which comprises the group's real estate publications, PERE and Real Estate Capital. Jonathan leads the group’s editorial team and is responsible for setting the agendas for the print and online editions of both publications as well as all associated publications. He joined PEI in 2009 and has assumed various reporting and editing roles since, including responsibility for PERE’s coverage of the private real estate markets in Asia. He has a BA from the University of Kent and is an NCTJ qualified journalist.

Andrea Carpenter is a Director of Diversity Talks Real Estate, and a writer and communications consultant in the property industry.

As a Director of Diversity Talks Real Estate, Andrea helps raise the visibility of under-represented groups in the industry through the stage and media. This includes training and other female-led initiatives through DTRE’s Women Talk Real Estate community.

On the writing side, her book about the history of the modern European property industry, High Rise and Fall, was published by Routledge in September 2018.

Andrea began her career as a journalist at Property Week before moving on to be editor of EuroProperty for seven years. Following this she worked for various industry bodies including the Urban Land Institute, INREV in Amsterdam, and its sister organisation ANREV in Hong Kong. On returning to the UK, she worked as Head of Marketing and Communications EMEA at CBRE Global Investors.

Women Talk Real Estate

Women Talk Real Estate offers a practical solution to increase the visibility of women in the industry. We connect female professionals with speaking and press opportunities and offer tailored training for women on all aspects of building a successful stage and media presence. Our database features more than 450 women from across the European property industry and we have had over 120 invitations to speak issued through the system since Autumn 2017.

We believe that visibility matters. For the individual, it brings about better business opportunities and career progression, and it also challenges stereotypes and provides role models for the benefit of the whole industry.

We are a non-profit organisation helping the industry work together on improving gender diversity. Jas has more than 25 years investment management experience, joining LGIM in 2018. She is Head of Strategic Change in Real Assets and sits on the Real Assets Management Committee responsible for driving the business strategy of the platform. She is also Chief of Staff to Bill Hughes, Global Head of Real Assets.

Prior to joining LGIM, Jas was an Alternatives Portfolio Manager at the Tesco Pension Fund responsible for investing across infrastructure, private equity, secondaries and other esoteric strategies such as aircraft leasing and shipping. Before that, she spent 11 years at Schroders Investment Management where she held various positions most notably as a Portfolio Manager in the global property multi-manager team allocating to global real estate funds. Jas holds an honours degree in Estate Management from the University of Singapore.

Dr. Souad Cherfouh is part of the European Private Real Estate business unit, based in London. She is responsible for developing the thematic investment research for real estate within Partners Group. She has 14 years of real estate research experience with companies like BNP Paribas Real Estate and Aviva Investors. She has held roles as Property Economist, Research Analyst and Head of Real Estate Investment Strategy Research. She holds a PhD in Economics and a Master's degree in Financial Economics from the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne, France and Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Jean Moulin Lyon 3, France.

Paul has over thirty years’ experience as an investor, developer and manager. Previously he spent 13 years at The Crown Estate where he was the Chief Investment Officer and ran the strategy, investment, development and asset management teams dealing with £16 billion of assets. During his time there the teams he led were involved in around £10 billion of real estate transactions and completed over 2 million sq ft of new development. He also devised and led the creation of major partnerships with significant blue chip investors both in central London and around the UK. Prior to this Paul ran the real estate investment portfolio of the Church Commissioners.

Paul has also held various non-executive positions on unlisted vehicles and continues to contribute more widely to the real estate sector. Currently he sits on the board of Pathways To Property and is an active member of the British Property Federation.

In her role as chief investment officer for Manulife Investment Management Americas Real Estate, Maggie is responsible for developing and executing investment strategies, sourcing strategic platform opportunities alongside key operator/general partner relationships, managing portfolio risk and performance, and driving overall investment decisions and transaction volume across the firm’s North American business. She oversees performance on behalf of the firm’s clients, including structuring and execution of key ventures, capital formation, and integration of products. Prior to joining Manulife, Maggie was a founding member and managing partner of Sera Global, where she led the global private capital advisory business for real assets. Previously, Maggie served as senior managing director and head of international capital for JLL, where she led a team primarily focused on cross‐border deployment of capital across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific and was responsible for placing capital from offshore investors into JLL’s direct transactions, joint ventures, and recapitalizations.

She is currently a Global Trustee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Board Member of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE) and a member of the Real Estate Executive Council (REEC), the largest organization of African American executives in real estate.

Daniel Cunningham is the editor of Real Estate Capital, contributing to and coordinating coverage of European real estate finance markets for the title's print and digital channels. He has more than 14 years’ experience writing about the real estate industry.

Daniel joined Real Estate Capital in 2015 from the financial news service Debtwire, where he covered commercial property lending and the market for non-performing loan portfolios. Prior to that, he worked at Estates Gazette, a weekly UK commercial property title, writing news and features about regional investment.

Clarence manages CBRE’s Global Loan Services Platform with more than $4000bn of commercial real estate debt in the US, Europe and Asia. In addition, Clarence leads CBRE’s Pan European commercial reals estate services practice which includes primary and special servicing, facility and security agency, loan underwriting and loan sales advisory and loan receivership of more than £80bn of commercial real estate debt. Clarence is also Head of the CBRE UK Diversity & Inclusion Committee which is responsible for leading the implementation of the organisation’s D&I strategy, working with partner, clients and staff and developing relationships with organisations focused on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Clarence has over 25 years of commercial real estate debt experience having managed servicing and debt platforms in the UK, Germany, Spain and the Benelux.

He joined CBRE in 2013, after spending five years as CEO at Hatfield Philips International (Situs) , one of Europe’s largest commercial real estate mortgage servicers. Prior to Hatfield Philips, Clarence was Managing Director of Crown Mortgage Management (Capita) where his responsibilities included establishing and managing the European operations including both Primary and Special Servicing.

In 2001, Clarence was instrumental in establishing Kreditwerk (formerly Aareal) Hypotheken Management, Germany’s first mortgage servicer which grew to manage over €13bn in assets in less than four years. Clarence has also held leadership roles as Global Head of Commercial Payments at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt/New York.

Charlotte D’Souza is EMEA Editor for PERE, overseeing private real estate news and analysis for the European market, in addition to editing the monthly global PERE magazine. Based in London, Charlotte joined PEI in 2022, where she spent a year as a Special Projects Editor before transitioning into the PERE team in 2023. Prior to this, she spent more than seven years on the content team at alternative assets data and insights provider Preqin, most recently as Senior Editorial Manager. Charlotte has a BA in English and Spanish from the University of Exeter.

Ben Eppley is a Partner at Apollo where he leads its commercial real estate debt activities in Europe. He is primarily responsible for originating, structuring, and asset managing performing commercial real estate debt investments in whole loans, mezzanine loans, structured credit, and preferred equity. Ben also oversees sourcing and arranging financings for Apollo’s European Principal Finance Funds and core-plus strategy. Prior to joining Apollo in 2013, he worked in the Real Estate Structured Finance Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and the Commercial Real Estate Debt Capital Markets Group at Barclays Capital. Previously, he was with Eastdil Secured. Ben graduated from Yale University with a BA in English.

Lucy Fletcher joined QuadReal in June 2017. As Managing Director, Global Portfolio Management, her work with QuadReal focuses on global portfolio strategy and portfolio construction including strategical and tactical asset allocations, performance measurement, analytics, ESG and investor relations. Lucy oversees a global portfolio with an AUM in excess of $73 billion, invested across direct and indirect strategies in real estate debt and equity.

Lucy is currently Co-Chair of QuadReal’s Sustainability and EHS Committee and founded the Women in Transactions network. Lucy’s career has spanned all three regions in the past 25 years working across global investment advisory, portfolio and asset management, and transactions roles in the US, Canada, Asia Pacific, and Europe while at JLL, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and AIG.

Lucy holds a Master of Arts Degree (Honours) in Architectural Design from University of Edinburgh and a Postgraduate Diploma in Estate Management from South Bank University, London. She is a member of ULI’s Urban Development Mixed Use Council (Gold) and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Lucy is currently on the Management Board of INREV and is a member of their Investor Advisory Council.

Nicola Free is head of Commercial Real Estate, EMEA for Wells Fargo where she is focused on expanding the CRE platform in EMEA, enhancing capital markets capabilities and deepening balance sheet presence to in-region and U.S.-based clients.

Nicola has more than 20 years of experience in capital markets and commercial real estate, and has held a variety of senior leadership roles with notable institutions such as HSBC, AIG, GE Real Estate, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. She is also a qualified lawyer and is a Board member of CREFC.

Nicola is also passionate about promoting diversity in the workplace. Throughout her career, she has led various talent management initiatives to support gender balance and social mobility.

Susan is a partner at law firm Mishcon de Reya. An experienced real estate lawyer, her in depth understanding of the property market and business training as a Sloan Masters MSc (London Business School) graduate, combined with a wide circle of contacts help make the firm’s programme of events “must attend” networking opportunities.

Susan is Vice Chair of the British Property Federation's Technology and Innovation Group. She is also a member of the Urban Land Institute Technology and Real Estate European Product Council. She chaired the FUTURE: Proptech Advisory Group bringing together key influencers in real estate and proptech.

Susan is on the advisory boards of Seaforth Land and Work.Life and is on the board of Central District Alliance, the Holborn and surrounding area's Business Improvement District where she also chairs its Property Group.
Susan regularly undertakes speaking and panel engagements on real estate, retail and proptech related issues. She hosts the popular Propertyshe podcast where she interviews some of the top influencers who define and make a difference to the real estate industry and built environment.

Jenny Hammarlund is the Senior Managing Director for Investments and the Head of Europe at Cadillac Fairview, the $40 billion real estate investing business of Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan. As such, she is responsible for the leadership of Cadillac Fairview’s Investments team, with a global investment strategy focused on the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Prior to her role there, Jenny Hammarlund had 25 years of experience in real estate investments, including as a Managing Director at H.I.G. Capital and a Director at KKR.

She has participated in transactions totaling more than €30 bn of value across multiple asset classes and geographies, most recently leading Cadillac Fairview's investments into Oxford North, a 1 million sqft life sciences development project in Oxford, as well as their investment into Boreal, a pan-European logistics platform building a €3 bn logistics portfolio, and several large scale office investments in London. Ms Hammarlund holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and speaks four languages. She was recently recognized as one of PEl's 2022 Global Top 10 Women of Influence in Private Markets in Real Estate

Julia Haugg is Head of the PERE Network, where she manages the global real estate membership of institutional investors and managers, spread across North America, Europe, and APAC. Her work includes setting the yearly agenda of online and in-person Network activities, leading special interest groups for investors, women in real estate, and sustainability, as well as offering connection opportunities with relevant industry players within the membership.

Julia holds an MBA in Political Science and Critical Linguistics from the University of Essex.

Philip joined CSC as part of its takeover of Intertrust and he with his team is responsible for running direct and indirect real estate investment structures holding assets in the UK and further afield. Experience includes offices, all sectors of retail, industrial, logistics, PRS, PBSA, hotels, and care homes.

Vivienne King has over 30 years’ leadership experience in the real estate industry with a track record of advocating for environmental and social sustainability. Formerly head of real estate at social impact consultancy, The Good Economy and prior to that, CEO of Revo, the membership organisation for retail property, where she supported development of Revo’s Social Value Framework. Prior to 2020, she was CEO of Soho Housing Association providing affordable homes and supporting local needs in London’s West End. With over 20 years at the Crown Estate, as a member of the senior team she was responsible for leadership of its ESG corporate strategy and its innovative measurement tool – Total Contribution. Based in London, Anne Koeman-Sharapova is the Head of European Real Estate Investment at Mercer. She joined Mercer in 2019 and has been working in the financial services industry, with a focus on real estate, since 2006.

As part of the Global Real Assets Team, Anne leads Mercer’s research coverage on real estate investment products, both primaries and co-investments, in the UK and Europe. Alek commenced with Aware Super in January 2015 and has over 20 years’ experience in finance and investment management. In his role as Head of Property he is overseeing Aware Super’s property strategy and team locally and globally. Alek also sits on the Board of Aware Real Estate Management in Sydney and is a former Board member of Oak Tree Group in Brisbane, Bankstown and Camden Airports in Sydney, City ID Group in Amsterdam and Vivenio in Madrid.

Huib Vaessen is heading the global Research & Analytics team at APG Real Estate and Infrastructure. Before APG Huib was a senior portfolio manager listed real estate at Kempen Capital Management where he led a successful digital transformation and he was the COO of GeoPhy, a big data real estate analytics company acquired in 2022. Damien Webb is our Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Head of International for Aware Super, one of Australia’s top performing super funds managing A$160 billion on behalf of its 1.1 million members.

Based in London since October 2023, Damien oversees the Fund’s international expansion strategy which aims to originate a UK, European and Global deal flow for the global portfolio’s projected A$250 billion FUM milestone. He leads a team of 14 who have an initial focus on international Property, Infrastructure and Private Equity assets.

Damien has over 25 years’ experience in funds management he joined Aware Super as Head of the Real Assets team in January 2014, having previously worked at Perpetual Investments and ING Investment Management.
Damien received a Bachelor of Economics degree from Sydney University and is an Associate of the Securities Institute of Australia having completed his Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment. In 2006, Damien completed his Master’s in Applied Finance with Macquarie University.
