Rahul Agarwal has over a decade of experience in Infrastructure Financing policy & Corporate Strategy. At Invest India, Rahul Co-head’s the teams for Real Estate, Infrastructure and Financial Investors Initiative which attracts SWFs, Pension Funds, and PE investments. Rahul also manages the Project Monitoring Group which is helping resolve bottlenecks in implementation of over 1,700 projects worth over $800 Bn. Rahul has been instrumental in India’s first asset recycling project which saw investments of $1.5 Billion and has been working with Government and private entities across sectors to introduce new investment opportunities in the country.

Rahul also worked as a consultant for High Level Committee on Financing Infrastructure, Planning Commission, Government of India. Invest India is the National Investment Promotion & Facilitation Agency setup under the aegis of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Harsh Agrawal is a Partner at I Squared Capital, focusing on the Firm’s infrastructure strategy in Asia. Harsh brings more than 18 years of financial services and investing experience. Prior to joining I Squared Capital in 2013, Harsh served for 12 years in various roles at Morgan Stanley in the United States and India. During his career at Morgan Stanley, he was involved in strategic transactions and financings for transportation and infrastructure companies in North America, investing in health care and industrial companies in the United States, evaluating growth capital opportunities for companies in India, and most recently financing infrastructure projects in India as part of Morgan Stanley Infrastructure (MSI). Before joining MSI, Harsh worked with Morgan Stanley Principal Investments (MSPI) in Mumbai, evaluating investments for Morgan Stanley’s proprietary investments group. Harsh holds dual degrees in computer science and economics from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.

He has a diversified professional experience in the fields of public management, project and infrastructure finance, originally as an auditor at the French supreme audit institution , then manager of multinational Equity Investment funds in infrastructure; he was selected by the French ministry of Finance in 2005 to set-up the “Mission d’Appui aux PPP” (PPP unit) which he managed until 2014. He is a graduate of HEC Paris business school and Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA) .

Otavio Castello Branco is a member of our Board of Directors since 2010 and Chairman of our executive-level Infrastructure Investment and Divestment Committee. Mr. Branco is also a Senior Managing Partner of Patria Investments Limited and an Executive Director of Patria Holdings Limited. He is responsible for institutional representation relationship with major infrastructure investors. Mr. Branco was responsible for the development of our Infrastructure Division.

Mr. Branco joined Patria in 2003, initially as a Managing Partner responsible for the Advisory Group. Since 2006, Mr. Branco led Patria into the infrastructure sector, creating a leading Latin America manager in this asset class. Prior to his role at Patria, from 2001 to 2002, Mr. Branco was an Executive Managing Director at the BNDES – Banco Nacional do Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social – responsible for the Infrastructure and Energy Department. While at BNDES, Mr. Branco was also an executive member of the federal government Energy Crisis Committee (the federal committee created to manage the 2001 power shortage); a member of the board of directors of Vale do Rio Doce and a member of the board of directors of Eletrobrás. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Branco led J.P. Morgan’s investment banking unit in Brazil, assuming the co-presidency of the Brazilian operations in 2000. From 1990 to 1995, Mr. Branco was the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the executive committee at Grupo Caemi (one of Brazil’s leading mining conglomerates). From 1983 to 1990, Mr. Branco worked at J.P. Morgan in Brazil as an investment banker. Mr. Branco holds a bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering from Escola Politécnica de São Paulo (USP).

Raffaele Della Croce is a Senior Economist at the OECD, in charge of the G20/OECD Taskforce on Long-Term Financing and responsible for producing statistical research and analysis on sustainable finance, long term investment financing and connectivity infrastructure. He is the Lead Manager for the OECD project “Institutional Investors and Long-term Investment” in the Financial Affairs division of the OECD and also responsible for the LTI Network gathering major pension funds, insurance companies, and sovereign wealth funds across the world www.oecd.org/finance/lti. As part of the OECD Futures Programme, Raffaele has also worked on the project “Transcontinental Infrastructure Needs to 2030/50” in the advisory unit to the Secretary General.

Martin Dirr is a passionate urban professional, with vast experience of over 13 years in international development, mainly for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ).
In his current role, Martin is the GIZ project head for the C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF), a global initiative supporting C40 member cities in developing countries and emerging economies to identify and access financing instruments to realize their low-carbon investment projects. Prior to this, Martin worked as an advisor to the Federal German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in the strategy development for its global urban portfolio. From 2007-2013 he was based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as a programme manager, amongst other roles, of the Ethio-German Urban Governance and Decentralisation Programme which supported the Ethiopian Government in the development and implementation of a national local government reform programme.
Martin holds a degree in Urban Geography.

The C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF) is a collaboration of C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The CFF supports cities in developing and emerging economies to develop finance-ready projects to reduce emissions limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels and strengthen resilience against the impacts of a warming climate. The CFF is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ), the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). To date, the CFF is supporting 19 projects in 17 cities across three continents focusing on the areas of mobility, energy and adaptation to a changing climate.

Cheryl Edleson Hanway is Regional Industry Senior Manager for IFC’s Infrastructure and Natural Resources business in Europe and Central Asia. In this role, she manages a debt and equity investment portfolio of more than US$2.1 billion and oversees a team of professionals responsible for infrastructure advisory and investment activities across the region in power & renewable energy; transport & logistics; information, communications & technology; municipal infrastructure; and gas distribution sub‐sectors.
Cheryl holds a Bachelors degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Cooperation with businesses and financial entities of all kinds, the World Bank, regional development banks, various UN organisations, non-governmental organisations, industries, and retailers in Switzerland and in developing countries as well as government agencies in developing and industrialised countries. 20 years of experience in innovative project management at the interface between the economy, environment, and development cooperation. Prior of working with South Pole, Hans-Peter was heading the Global Infrastructure Basel foundation and before that the Division of Trade Promotion at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, where he used to work for 25 years.

Omri is Meridiam's Director for Turkey and Eurasia and heads its Istanbul office. Since joining Meridiam in 2010, Omri has spearheaded Meridiam’s expansion into emerging countries in Latin America, East Africa, and most recently in the Middle East and CIS regions. Under Omri’s leadership, Meridiam built and now operates 4 hospitals in Turkey that serve 10% of the country’s health sector needs, representing a total investment of more than €1.5 billion.

Raza Hasnani has over twenty-five years of private equity, infrastructure and impact investing experience across Africa, Asia and the Americas. He has also led project and corporate financings for energy and infrastructure projects around the world while at Exxon Mobil Corporation in Dallas and Houston. He started his career at Deloitte in Philadelphia.

Barry was also involved in the development Actis Energy investee company Globeleq Africa, within the renewable energy side of the business focused on South Africa.
Prior to joining Mainstream Barry spent 8 years with ESB International and was involved in the construction and operation of large scale thermal power plants. He undertook a number of roles including Group Safety Manager and Operations Manager for Asia with responsibility for 4 power plants in Pakistan and Malaysia.

Barry holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dublin Institute of Technology.

Marie-Laure holds a Masters in Corporate Finance from Lyon Graduate School of Management (EM Lyon), a degree from Lille Graduate School of Business (EDHEC) and a BA in Business Studies from Brighton University.

Renato Mazzola is a Managing Partner and a member of the BTG Pactual Partners’ Committee, and global head of BTG Pactual’s Infrastructure and Private Equity divisions. Renato joined BTG Pactual in June 2011 and has more than twenty years of experience in the investment industry. Renato is responsible for the investment in several companies in the transport & logistics, water, energy, telecom, retail, oil & gas, parking lot, technology, wellness and industrial sectors, among others and is currently board member of companies in several countries as Eneva, Globenet, Bodytech and Estapar. Prior to joining BTG Pactual, Renato spent five years as the Senior Investment Officer at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in the Infrastructure Division. Previously, Renato worked for five years at JP Morgan. Prior to joining AllianzGI, Nadia worked at the Project and Infrastructure Finance team at Citigroup based out of London.

Nadia is an non-executive director for the International Project Finance Association (IPFA) and the Long Term Infrastructure Investor Association (LTIIA). In addition, Nadia is part of the Taskforce advising the G7 on Scaling Impact Investing and represents the private sector view on the DFI Transparency initiative.

Before joining SIF as Chief Operating Officer, Pierre was PPP Specialist at the Asian Development Bank, and supported the development of transport infrastructure in Asia as transaction advisor, as well as the provision of institutional support to PPP Units through ADB’s Asia Pacific Project Preparation Facility (AP3F). He is a graduate of the Imperial College London.

Fuat Savas is an Executive Director in J.P. Morgan’s Infrastructure Finance and Advisory team, covering emerging markets. As a part of this role, Fuat works on senior and junior debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, equity capital raises and derivatives structuring across a range of infrastructure asset classes including transportation, energy and oil & gas.

Prior to joining the IFA team, Fuat led J.P. Karim is a member of the sustainable city working group of the UN Habitat (PNUE) and participated and contributed to the first cities summit in Nairobi (March 2019), and the UNSPBF (sciences policy business forum) “Data for the Planet Program Task force” in Canberra (November 2019). Karim is also a member of the “Community of users on secure, safe and resilient societies : urban critical infrastructures” from European Union.
Karim is a doctor and engineer from the Ecole National des Mines de Paris and the Ecole Nationale des Sciences Geographiques.

Katherine leads a global coalition to mobilise capital for sustainable infrastructure and climate action
Katherine joined system-change investments and advisory firm SYSTEMIQ in 2016 to lead the “Blended Finance Taskforce” – a global coalition of leaders which aims to accelerate investment for climate action with a focus on sustainable infrastructure and nature-based solutions. Katherine has co-authored key reports including “Better Finance, Better World” and “Infra 3.0: re-imagining infrastructure delivery”.
Katherine co-founded the “Tri Hita Karana Forum for Sustainable Development” in Indonesia which has mobilised over $10bn for high impact projects and is an Advisory Board member for the “Responsible Consumer Fund”. Before joining SYSTEMIQ, Katherine was a lawyer in Australia and the UK. She specialised in project finance and M&A, financing renewable energy projects and other major infrastructure.
Katherine received First Class Honours in Law / Commerce from the University of Queensland, where she specialised in corporate finance and international humans rights law.

Prior to this role, Sarvesh was MIGA’s Operations Director for Climate, Energy, Extractives, Capital and Financial Markets industries. Earlier, he had led the Agency’s operations globally for over 5 years. During this time, MIGA’s business grew considerably to a portfolio of over US$24 billion, with impact in priority areas of climate finance, and IDA/ FCS countries.

Before MIGA, Sarvesh was with IFC for over 15 years in various leadership roles, including as Senior Regional Manager for Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, Special Assistant to IFC’s EVP & CEO, and Senior Investment Officer.

Sarvesh is an Indian national and holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi University.

Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)

The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) is a member of the World Bank Group. Our mandate is to promote cross-border investment in developing countries by providing guarantees (political risk insurance and credit enhancement) to investors and lenders.

Mr. Thomassen is Partner at A.P. Moller Capital, a fund manager focusing on infrastructure investments in growth markets. He has 20+ years of experience of principal investments and business development from the energy sector in industry and private equity. Mr. Thomassen joined A.P. Moller Capital from Denham Capital where he was the director of the Power Deal Team from 2012-2017, responsible for origination, analysis, structuring, valuation and execution of investments. Jens Thomassen has previously been director at Hg Capital, where he originated, executed and managed investments in the wind, solar, hydro and conventional energy sectors across Europe. Before Hg, he was with GE Energy Financial Services, BHP Billiton, BP and Enron. He holds a Master of Science in Finance from the Norwegian School of Economics and the University of St. Gallen.

A.P. Moller Capital

A.P. Moller Capital is an affiliate of A.P. Moller Holding and was established in 2017 to manage stand-alone funds to invest in infrastructure in emerging markets. We closed our first fund, The Africa Infrastructure Fund, in 2018 with a commitment of USD 1bn. At STOA, Virginie integrates ESG, Climate and Impacts criteria into project analysis in order to manage risks and create value over the long term. She sets up procedures and guidelines covering all aspects of the investment process. She helps partners implement E & S action plans and measure Impacts.
Virginie relies on 15 years of experience in the field of environment including 4 years in Africa (Congo) and 4 years abroad (USA, UK). Her expertise in auditing, impact analysis, her knowledge of the local and operational context as well as the financial implications allows her to apply the international standards in a pragmatic way.

Prior to joining STOA, Virginie was a senior consultant at ERM, a leading international consulting firm in environment, health, safety, risk, social and sustainability. She also held the positions of operation director and technical manager at Bureau Veritas covering the Francophone Africa zone between 2011 and 2014.

Virginie is a Chemical Engineer from the School of Chemistry, Physics and Electronics of Lyon and the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña.

From 1997 until 2005 he invested on behalf of KfW in Venture Capital and Private Equity Funds and managed a part of the innovation financing division of KfW Frankfurt. In 2005 he was asked to assist the European Commission as a Seconded National Expert notably to prepare an Equity Promotional Programme for SMEs. In 2007 he continued in Brussels as head of the KfW Liaison Office to the European Union before he was appointed as member of the EU Task Force for Greece of the European Commission until 2015. He joined the Brussels based Secretariat General of the European Long Term Investors Association in 2016 and was elected as ELTI Secretary General in October 2016.

Thomas is Senior Investment Officer at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), a multilateral financial institution whose mission is financing the Infrastructure for Tomorrow — infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled and promotes regional connectivity. At AllB, Thomas is responsible for originating, structuring, executing and managing innovative, developmental and profitable debt and equity transactions, including fund investments, across all infrastructure sectors in Asia.

Prior to AllB, Thomas was an adviser to the German Federal Ministry of Finance to support the establishment of AllB and advise the German Chief Negotiator on AllB's institutional, operational and financial policy framework. Earlier in his career, Thomas worked at KfW Development Bank, where he was responsible for managing equity investments and executing loans for infrastructure projects in emerging markets and developing economies across Asia, including managing a EUR450-miIIion p.a. infrastructure investment program for China.

Thomas earned a BBA and M.Sc. in International Business Administration from European University Viadrina, Germany and an MBA from Catholic University of Cordoba, Argentina. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)

Jason Z. Lu joined the GIF as Lead Infrastructure Finance Specialist after ten years of working at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) of The World Bank Group. While at MIGA, Jason worked on a broad range of complex energy and infrastructure projects worldwide. He has built expertise in managing and closing complex projects and advising clients on infrastructure financing, risk mitigation and credit enhancement to support their investment and financing needs in emerging markets and developing economies. Jason started his banking career with Bank of America in its Global Project Finance Group in 1996 where he was responsible for transaction structuring and execution. He also worked at ABB Energy Capital with responsibilities for renewable energy financing in the United States and State Street Bank and Trust Company in credit and portfolio management. Jason holds graduate degrees from Yale University (MBA), Central European University (Prague), and China’s Peking University.

The Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF)

The Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF) supports end-to-end transaction advisory services to governments in developing countries to build pipelines of bankable, sustainable infrastructure programs and projects that are attractive to private capital. Eugene Zhuchenko has more than 20 years of infrastructure experience. Prior to founding ETORE Advisory, he was the CEO of Long Term Infrastructure Investors Association, managed an infrastructure portfolio at APG Asset Management, led M&A projects at APM Terminals and provided transport and energy advisory services at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Eugene has been a board member in several private equity infrastructure companies in Europe and North America.
